board bow Question & tillering pic's added
« on: March 19, 2008, 09:07:00 AM »
here is 2 pic's of the back of a board bow I'm working on...This bow should be backed right? The last 3 bows I tried didn't have the lines(grains) showing like this on the backs. Please tell me what You think.

It doesn't need a backing unless it's your first  few bows then you should back it because beginners should back bows. Jawge

Thanks George, the sides are very straight grain. Would it be ok to start sealing the bow in the backside? I know I have to still sand it all down, but wouldn't this make for a better seal, deeper in the wood.

I got it down to start using the short string. Right now it's bracing at 4.25". I'll take pic's in the light. It rained all day here.

The grain runs off the bow on the right side, better back it.

I think I will back it. Here is some tillering pic's please tell me what you think.

Here it is Braced @ 4.5inchs

Here is the top limb so far is setting about .5"

Here is the bottom limb so far is setting about .5"

Drawn to 15 inchs, I don't have a scale right now so no weight was taken. I'll have to mark a arrow & take it to a wheelie bow shop to get the draw weight.
