First time arrow cresting & staining
« on: March 19, 2008, 02:33:00 PM »
I'm in the process of building some arrows for my SA II. I figured I would keep the same color sceam as my bow. The arrows are Hickory with a 11" white dip and red and black crest the stain is ebony to make the arrow match my greybark of my bow. I'm waiting on my feathers to show up so I can figure what color's I want to use. I have red, black, and white 5" shield. I'm thinking about 2 reds and 1 black, but just have to play around with them to see what looks good. Here is a pic of them so far. I still have to put a couple coats of poly on them.

Those are some great looking arrows.  Do you plan on highlighting with some gold or silver pin strips?

I agree, that would really set em off! I use the same colors as you and used grey for the pin stripes! Turn out pretty cool!

i agree i love the collor scheme,  just curios is that a polyurethane stain?  If so what type of metalic paint would you use over it,  i had trouble with coper enamel flaking over the polly, or would polly acrilic work better?
