Well done Ryan. Always enjoyed yor posts on IG & hoping to see more in depth field reports here as your season progresses.

Thank you Steve! Hopefully it'll be Staci's turn to hunt. Crossing my fingers that her limbs will be here within a week.

Looks like fun and good eating. So how did you post the iPhone video clip? I tried a few times. No luck.

I shot the video with my iPhone, but uploaded it to my youtube channel. The embedded video is a youtube link.

Charlie,

Staci took some of the goat bones and threw them in our crock pot with water, salt, onions, carrots, celery, garlic, ginger, parsley, basil and oregano. After simmering in our crock pot for about 10hrs, we let it cool and strained the liquid. We're going to use it as we would beef broth.  From what we've read, bone broth has many health benefits.

Another cool aspect to this season is that my boy is finally showing interest in hunting. He tagged along for the first time last month.

On this trip we had a hog come within a few yards, but he came in to quick and head on in the tall grass. I didn't have a shot and he ended up bolting after running right into us.

Won't be hunting. mostly relaxing, hiking and snorkeling. We did 3 islands 5 years ago and loved it. Kauai was our favorite. :shaka:

That's too cool Ryan.  For some reason I had thought you moved already.

I always love the food picture you post as well.  Its great to see your son showing some interest.  now you will always have a  hunting partner.

Charlie, FYI you can make excellent broth from deer bones also.
Relax,

You'll live longer!

That's so neat that your pack was part of the blood trail. May never experience that again.
Nice to include the good part of the hunt.

Aloha Abe!

Yeah, probably a once in a lifetime experience and I've been on a ton of blood trails. I'm still bummed that I couldn't find you after my string building seminar at Comptons. Hopefully we'll meet up again one day.

Take care!
Ryan

Here's a quick recap of our season.

Opening Day

The first few trips started out slow, so we decided to pack out some rubbish.

At this point Staci's bow was sidelined, but she still decided to tag along.

We tried to hit up some of our old spots, but no luck.

Then came the rain... It's been raining off and on for two months.

Many days were spent behind the glass.

The signs of game were getting better.

First animal of the season. A quick break before the pack out.

First trip with my boy. Took a short video of him climbing down one of the ridges.

Very next trip I got lucky again.  ;)
