Nice, looking at these pics really gets me stoked. Can't wait to smell fall in the air.
Now we're digging where the taters are.

Won’t be long. Saw a couple few young hickories dropping leaves the other day.

pdk that high racked 8 is a beauty! Hard to tell without a side profile, but his body size looks pretty small, or maybe his antlers or just that big ha

I was thinking he was 3 but didn't want to say with only the frontal view.  That's awesome, I love a big 8.

That would be  a tough one to let walk here in Pa., although with antler regs. and guys getting more selective seems to be a lot more older buck.
Now we're digging where the taters are.

I would say if you have control of his roaming ground......... I would let him go at least another year.  If he is 3.5 (might be correct but it all depends on his food and genetics) how good can he be at 4.5 or more..........

Just my thoughts.

He certainly can roam, especially during the rut, but he was on my place all of the late season.  Just because I start chasing him next year doesn't mean I will get him.  I just like the cat and the mouse game as they get older.  Plus seeing them get to their potential.  When I grew up in PA, it was all public land hunting, and everyone shot whatever they saw, and the average harvest age was 18 months.  Tough to see mature bucks back then.
