Tall Tines, couldn’t talk me out of it
« on: April 22, 2018, 09:36:35 AM »
Been shooting a longbow for a long time but have had an itch for a recurve. I have been looking at a TT . I really like the looks of them, but do I really need(I hate that 4 letter word) it. I don’t know if I will like shooting a recurve again, but I sure do want to scratch that itch. Help me    :banghead:

Stick with the Treadway's, no need to fix what isn't broken.  I keep loiking at bows too, and every day have to tell myself I already have everything I need.

You must have at least one longbow, one recurve, one selfbow.  That way you can shoot different classes at shoots, you get the feel of the different equipment, you can hunt with different bows for different species and or seasons or reasons.  You like the Tall Tines, once you get one in your hands your really find out how much you like it.  I don't shoot my Howard Hill every week but I sure do have fun when I do shoot it.  I mostly hunt and shoot my Blacktails.
You should enable yourself to get a Tall Tines and see what it is all about. :archer2:

Sounds like you are describing me. It don’t hurt to look, or is that the first step in the wrong direction? :knothead:

For a while I wanted to think I was a longbow shooter as well. I have tried many of the high end bows out there and thought I had found "the" bow when I got a TT stickflinger from Brian. But then I too got the itch to shoot a recurve again and ordered one from Brian. I went with the long riser and short limbs making a 60" bow for my 28" draw, and wow! This is now my go to bow and shoot it better than any other bow I have ever had.

I have settled on TallTines bows, and you won't go wrong ordering one. Dont sell yourself short with just longbows, you will love his recurve!

NO NO DON'T DO IT, THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!  does that help?  Sounds to me like you need a new good Hill style longbow and some new wood arrows.

Well, they are smooth, pack a punch, and look good.  Oh and I like the grip.  Hope that helps.

I can solve your dilemma, you dont need a recurve.  But you do need a tall tines stickflinger.! I have 2!

I have to agree with mec.  I have had a few top end recurves, Tall Tines, Blacktail, among them. I liked both of them a lot.

I considered myself a recurve guy who messed around with longbows.  My Tall Tines Stickflinger changed all of that.  I don't have a recurve that I would hunt with in the house anymore.

I do have some nice longbows that I will still hunt with besides the Stickflinger.  but the Stickflinger eliminated my dependence on recurves.

I wouldn't hunt in the house with a recurve either.  I used my daughters little bamboo flat limb out in the farm house, a great little mouse killer.

I usually wait for two weeks before I order anything just to get the novelty out of my head and really think if I need it or is it impulse. 9 times out of 10 I don't buy. Just my 2 cents
It's really simple. Just don't take those borderline shots. Tomorrow is another day.

Pat has the prettiest collection of bows I’ve ever seen hands down!!

As a bowyer I can appreciate and admire the work of other bowyers that I consider excellent craftsman!!
I have a very short list of bows/bowyers that I would consider buying a bow from If for some reason I ever decided I needed or wanted to.
Tall Tines is included in that very short list!! Excellent craftsmanship and very well mannered! The stickflinger ( I know that’s not what you referred  to) is hands down one of the smoothest drawing bows I’ve ever drawn. Except for maybe the cyclone from legends bows. It’s a toss up. Bryan’s recurves are very excellent as well!  Weather you need it or not it would be a great investment that would bring you years of enjoyment.
Ps... I have never spoken to Bryan in any way and wouldn’t even know him if I past him on the street. So this isn’t a bump for a friend or anything like that.
An elitist mentality creates discord, even among the elite!

Can’t go wrong with a TallTines recurve. Same for the Stickflinger. Brian and his bows are top notch.
