NIce, Congrats to both of you.
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

Nice job guys, congrats! That pig with the missing jaw is bizarre! I couldn't tell from the pics. What was up there? Born that way or injured?

Enjoyed the story, thanks for the write up. Was the missing jaw pig healthy? Looks good otherwise, was the body normal or malnourished?

It was pretty weird.  Both of the bigger hogs in this group had some type of ailment.  This one walked hunched up really bad, but he was rooting and all that.  I knew he looked skinny, but, other than looking hunched up, he didn't look too bad.  My opinion is he would have had a long slow death.  As bad as I hate pigs, I don't care to see them suffering.

In this area, they're not uncommon to see while rifle hunting.  So, in my opinion, he got shot back in rifle season and it had healed.  The weird part is that it looked like the hogs tongue had grown into the bottom jaw.  There wasn't anything blatantly obvious that made me think of an injury, but, the way he was limping around and hunched up, I can't believe he had made it this long (estimated age of a year or so) if he was born like that.
