"Possibly" A new alternative for 3 D Target repair!
« on: April 25, 2018, 04:40:14 PM »
Now I am not sure I put this up here last year or not but I ask has "Anyone" ever tried this "SIKA" 2 part foam yet?
Last year as we were pouring this mixture in a post hole and let it work it's magic as described we had some overflow that we cut with a regular flat pvc pipe saw and I thought "What If" I shared this with everyone that may be trying to salvage a shot up vital zone on their 3D Targets or better yet basically any target.
There is enough of this in the bag to do several targets at one time if you lay them flat and just pour in holes and let it set.
It sets in 3 minutes and suppose to be fully cured in 3 hours.
Just throwing this out there and it can be found for $11.95 at a few hardware stores.
I may have already posted it so forgive me if I did already but if I didn't here it is !

I'm guessing that if is a denser foam than the spray cans, if so it should work very good. thanks for the tip o the day.

Friend,
It has the same density like spray foam or those Delta targets . If you own a farrier's rasp you could shape it to the form or body of the animal I would think!
I have a bag of it but I only have a 18/1 rinehart target and don't want to waste the rest of what is in the bag.
All you do is break a seal between the two mixtures in the bag and roll it for 20 seconds across your leg to mix then cut corner of bag and pour !
Expands very quick and dries quick.

How much does it puff up ?  Can this be poured into one of those " You stuff it" type targets to fill it with foam ?

Chuck this stuff expands and push's itself against the wall of the hole you dig for posts and expands to the top very quickly !
What I witnessed is if a hole is 24 to 30" deep and you pour the entire bag in it will expand to top in several minutes and extra just overflows and sort of "MUSHROOMS" out.
It is made for setting posts, mailbox's and whatever you would need concrete to  hold but best thing is no water needed and no tools to mix it.
I am just throwing this out there for folks to try it "BUT" I have never used what I have yet on any target.
As mentioned can it be used in a blob target ? I would guess yes but I have not tried it.
I would think if someone poured a little into the holes and let it expand to the point of overflowing then just use a serrated bread knife to follow contour of target they could save their target ?
Some can be found in the major hardware stores in the cement isle but best check your local area because not all carry it.
If you have three 3 D targets that are shot up then I think one bag will do all three if you use it sparingly and not go crazy with it.
Worth a try is all I'm saying ! :archer2:

For folks who may wonder or want to compare it with the best I can say is it is like the green foam board that comes in a 4'x8' x 2" thick sheet at Lowe's and Home Depot!
Actually this came from H.D. and it is somewhat like the spray foam density as well when cured.
Just remember to pour slowly and don't fill holes to top cause it expands like a mushroom once it leaves the hole .
I saw someone recently on another site wrap plastic wrap around his beat up target and that is good if you can leave an area to put a plastic funnel and pour it in and let it expand.
It is a liquid and like a somewhat watery milkshake when pouring it.
If a hole is dry and dug as instructions show it works pretty good .
If you make a plywood box say 2'x2' square and drill a hole in top and screw together I guess one could make a quick block target sort of like a cube .May take two bags to fill it but use your imagination and fill a big soda bottle or something  but leave the cap off to expand!

I'm thinking if you took a poly bag and this stuff to your hunting camp you could make your blob target on site after you arrived, that would be sweet!!!!

Giving it a go.

Repaired two Blobs and a BH target this morning for $10.

Note; The expansion is much greater than I had anticipated...will have to do considerable trimming. Could have easily repaired another target.

Will put some rounds in a repaired Blob tomorrow.

Do not follow where the path may lead.  Go, instead, where there is no path and leave a trail.
