BCY X-99 testers
« on: April 28, 2018, 10:02:14 AM »
 Testers have been chosen.
Thanks to all.

I have some of the new BCY X-99 on the way. The BCY X has been great but the SK 90 that was the base for it has been discontinued and replace with SK 99. X-99 is the reformulated X - will be slightly thinner and I have no doubt make a great quiet and fast string.

Looking for 4 to test it - 2 for flemish and 2 for endless. All will come with Bow Hush wraps and Bow Hush silencers. I'm testing the wrap in a little different style and looking for feedback - increasing thickness is the same area I put the mufflers to catch the string slap. Also the endless will have the clear end serving I have been working on - gives a whole different look to an endless string. Picture below.

Post up you are interested and for choice of endless or Flemish. Monday night I will choose 4 randomly from a "hat".
Thanks

I'm up for it! Either style.

Like the looks of the clear serving, Steve!

What is it?  Secret.   Thank you!

Thanks!
It's not 100% clear - slightly opaque.
But I'm liking it

Yeah, mono wasn't either.
Oxidation, and no fun to work with.

Frank, that's .014 Halo serving served on TIGHT.  2D and 3D serving (end loop serving) will give you the same basic effect.  You can get .017 and .019 fairly clear, but the larger the serving the less clear it will be.  BCY also has a serving clarifier/string cleaner that helps with the transparent look.

I'm interested in either flemish or endless.  I build and shoot ASLs and have never had an opportunity to try anything but B50 and B55.  Really interested in learning the difference first hand.

Frank - I'm using the .014 halo now with good results. Going to try the 3d as it's my main end serving in black.

I'd try a flemish!!!!

Whats the difference between this and the Brownell Rampage, which is also supposed to be SK-99, and RampageV, which is SK-99 and Vectran?????

Rampage is Brownell's copy of BCY's Mercury.  Rampage V appears to be their copy of BCY's 452X, but using SK99 Dyneema.  The percentage of Vectran and Dyneema is almost identical.  They can't copy BCY-X or X-99, as those are patented.
