Glass bow Arrow rest crown ? & height ?
« on: May 04, 2018, 05:39:55 PM »
Im finishing up this bow got the overlays on and knocks cut in, I was going to start moving the rest height down to 1 in. To 3/4 in. above center I was wondering where you guys put the apex of the rest crown , towards the belly , center or towards the back ? In other words where the arrow shaft contacts the rest ? Im curious where you guys put your rest above center the top line in the pic is 1 in. above center and I was going to start there and shoot the bow and go from there ?

The crown should be right above the deepest part of the throat of the grip.

Thanks Roy great article, good to know will hold off then tell I deepen that handle a bit more , I'm realy starting to see the value on these glass bows making small adjustments on carving the handle & rest over many arrows ,I been doing that on the forward handle bow and it is shooting better & better !

I start about 1.125 above center, and the crown is higher above the low part of grip. Then I also crown the side plate a bit, not too sure how necessary is , because the old factory bows were flat shelf and side plate.

The arrow flexes away from the side plate anyway, but I feel better doing it.

Stay sharp, Kenny.

Oh Man scary were all playing well together today...lol ok good Kenny I'm real close to that height now , I'm going slow on the carving on this one sense I opted for a small petit handle getting my hand lined up at the right point I really like the light nimble feel of this R/D

Well got the tips smoothed out and the bow strung up , shot about 60 arrows so far ,carved on the apex of the crown its just a little behind center towards the string but is shooting sweet there good arrow flight , Im a little hesitent to move it back any more due to great arrow flight do you guys have any thoughts ??

If its shooting good for you, don't change it!! LOL

You can always carve on it again later if you decide to....

I got a little over 300 arrows in the last 2 days but starting to get this thing tuned I built up a HB/RN arrow rest that Shreed would be proud of and it did improve arrow flight more, somthing to being right over the deepest part of the handle , Im going to drop arrow spine Im still to stiff but could hunt with these if I had to thats my best 10 yard group before the arrow rest they where in a 8 in. group !

It's getting there Kenny I'm obsessed with getting perfect arrow flight with this bow the ones that fly the best out of it ,is some old heavy cedar arrows I bought 30 years ago I can't remember what spine they are and I don't have a spine tester but they come off with zero wiggle and fly like darts , but will have it dialed in before hunting season !

Yea, but you have to shoot more than one arrow to call it a group.  :archer2:
