How do I resize a photo for posting ??
« on: May 26, 2018, 07:14:52 PM »
I am trying to post some items for the St Jude auction but can't seem to be able to post a pic, I'm assuming it's the wrong size. I have an Apple computer and am trying to bring the attachment from my photos file.    HELP

many thanks, old guy Ken

I think there are apps that will do this for you, but the way I do it is to send the photo to myself.  When I send it the email program asks me if I want it small, medium, or large.  I always pick large, because it is still less than 1 mb, and it will work here.

Oh, and then I have to save the reduced photo that I receive back to my photo file.  I can decide to delete either the large one or the reduced one after I post the reduced one to TradGang.

I do use Imgur but I thought we were going to be able to do this without a third party ? I have the size choices that Mc Dave is talking about on my iPhone but i do not see that on my Mac. I'll figure a work around but I thought this was suppose to be EZ ... LOL

Tapatalk is a forum hosting app, you don't have to leave it to post pics,  it pulls them straight from your phone without  having to use Imgur or photobucket or any of the other true 3rd party sites.  Tapatalk will list any forums you follow on your homepage and will show any new posts to any threads you subscribe to across all forums. Way easier than having to go look for new posts. The picture attaching feature is one of its best features.

Is Tapatalk free, or is it something you have to pay for?

McDave, the version I use is free however, others mention using a paid for version that includes less advertising. I haven’t found advertising to be objectionable but thought I would mention it. I’m not really interested in what the app offers other than it’s photo posting properties which this cave man finds easy.

I've been playing with the same this morning.  I just went to settings on my phone and made it take smaller pictures.  Doesn't help going back but hopefully will make it easy going forward.

open your pics in preview.
Resize to the right size...not sure what the right size is frankly...( PULL DOWN TOOLS...ADJUST SIZE)
PREVIEW WILL AUTO SAVE WHEN CLOSING THE PIC.
Post the new pic

Well I'm not sure, i have hit about every button / icon on this computer in the photo area and do not see anything that says " preview " ....

Keep in mind these are photos already downloaded into the photo file. I am not the computer whiz, the wife is an unfortunately she is in AZ right now so I am on my own ... LOL

Imgur will work for now until I get smarter .... I have a few posts in St Judes done successfully and will get a few more done there for the auction, love those KIDS.

Thanks for all the help

ok dokie.
If you're good you're good.

Most macs are set to open pictures with the app called preview.
The name of the app being used will be in the upper corner of the screen next to the "apple".

Glad you got a trick figured out.

Thanks for helping the Kids!

Ken, I have been using a site called picresize.com I like it cause I don’t have to subscribe to any thing or download my 1000+ photos from my IPad. I hated the bucket and not impressed with Imgur, to much BS. As for my choice of IPad I prefer to sit back in my easy chair than face our brand new Mac on the desk.
