A little 4" drop point
« on: June 02, 2018, 12:10:13 PM »
Been a while since I've posted any of my knives.  Here is a 4" drop point in 0.200" thick CPM 3V steel at 61 hrc that I finished up recently.  I did a field grade finish on the metal and a saber grind with a thicker convexed secondary bevel as this will be a workhorse for the guy I'm making it for.  The handles are stabilized maple burl over green g10 liners with a brass and stainless Loveless bolt and a mosaic tube with a pattern to match.  The sheath is 13oz top grade vegetable tanned leather with a tri-weave basket stamping tooling that was custom fit to this knife where the welt perfectly surrounds the blade and follows the contours of the false guard perfectly.  There is a little condensation on the blade from going outside for the photos from my cooler home, but I didn't notice it until I saw the pictures being a bit washed out looking.  Since this one is already sold I didn't bother retaking photos.  Hope you all enjoy...

I appreciate the compliments.  This handle profile is a bit more work than a more typical, less contoured handle but it sure is comfortable and secure in the hand.  I think it's worth the effort.

I'm sure it will see a few animals along its way.  I know the guy its going to personally so I may get some photos of it in use next fall.  Hopefully I can be there when it gets first blood on it.
