The Kanati that wouldn't go away!
« on: June 15, 2018, 10:05:59 PM »
This is a new spin on a story I started Monday night. I was on my phone using my Tapatalk app and after an hours worth of texting I hit post and lost every thing but some pics which is the only reason I was using the app. That said, this time I'll do it in broken form and give a review of the subject bow at the conclusion. In a couple of days I will also show pics of my new Eagles Flight Don has already shipped :jumper:This is my first ordered custom so please excuse the enthusiasm! Well it's bed time as I've got an early morning scouting trip planned.

Well, perhaps one more nugget since I got the inevitable campfire emoji. Back in February I made “THE” call to Jason about crafting a bow I’ve been pondering for quiet some time. We ironed out all the details and I was told to expect her some time in May. This was great as we would have ample time to become intimate!

About to hit the woods but a quicky wont set me back. For the most part I'm a clear glass guy but the nostalgic green glass and Bubinga appeals to me so I took the plunge. I draw just shy of 28" and opted for the 58" model but a couple weeks later, knowing Jason hadn't started I phoned him requesting a change to a 60". Every part of the ordering process was a joy mostly because of Jason's patience and enthusiasm! For what it's worth all the trad sponsors I've dealt with have been top notch. Gotta go :wavey:

Back from scouting expedition frogs were all over the lake and here’s why! Where there's Crawfish there's frogs

Let's face it I'm a tight wad when it comes to money and all sorts of financial opposition started setting in before my bow was started and after counting the cost I reluctantly phoned Jason to cancel the build and told him to keep the deposit. He said if in the future I changed my mind just let him know and he could apply it to the bow. I felt I made the right decision but I would be lying if I said I didn't fantasize about the day I would hoist that bad boy up a tree. I like doing business with good people and it made me sick to opt out.

A week or so after cancelling my order the bow came up in a casual conversation between myself and a fellow Ganger, John Langley (South Mississippi Bow Hunter).
I had let him know I cancelled and he was disappointed. Fast forward to this past Monday evening.
As I was driving home from work I got a call from my Brother in Law Tommy (Mississippi Archer) And he asked could he come by the house and shoot my selfbow and
I agreed. We had shot a little bit and he said, hey, John texted and asked could he swing by and show me a knew bow he ordered to which I replied, "why certainly"!
John had on more than one occasion mentioned an interest in a Centaur Triple Carbon and I just knew he bit the bullet.  :dunno:

After a few minutes John pulled in and we walked out to greet him. He had a radiant glow about him only a new Stick owner could have :goldtooth:. Without wasting any time he walked around to the passenger side of his Tacoma and extracted a long cardboard box. He the pulls out his knife and commences to open and I asked wait a minute, you got a knew bow and you were able to drive all the way over without opening it? :knothead: With top removed he proceeds to pull out a fleece sleeve and he had our full attention!

Graceful curves soon followed but wait a minute, you aint a green glass guy whats up with that? Then the riser section appeared and what else but Bubinga. And immediately I thought after all my talk of a Kanati and all John's responses about how he's heard nothing but praises regarding the he done broke down and got him one :clapper: After totally unveiling her he says read this! :readit:

Yes, I am Scout and Supreme Leader and Sniper, my two frogging and hunting comrades along with my wife’s knowledge had devised a scheme! As soon as John had learned I backed out of the bow deal he devised a plan to solicit Tommy’s help and with J K Tradition’s approval reordered my bow. John said he would pay the bow off if Tommy would get the Eagles Flight Cochise he knew I was planning on getting for it.

Now Jason's a busy Bowyer and doesn't do it full time but he pulled a fsat one and managed to get the bow out well before it should have been done. I've owned a number of customs (second hand) as well as a few imports  :knothead: and have enjoyed most of them but there's nothing like putting all of your own preferences into an order. Tomorrow the quiver should arrive and I'll make an attempt to give the bow and quiver combo a just review as promised!

Sadly enough a few days after ordering my bow John found out he had termites in his home.
