RE-Make of Hoyt Pro Hunter Recurve
« on: June 23, 2018, 01:53:19 PM »
I've collected a lot of old bows from the 50's and 60's.  One of my all time favorite recurves is the 58 inch Hoyt Pro Hunter.  The only problem I have with some of those early bow is they seem to have very large handles.  Here is my re-make version.

Started with a Hoyt Pro Hunter RH 58" 46#@28.  Reduced weight to 40#@28, re-shaped grip by cutting the heel of the grip down and sliming the entire grip.  But now the sight window looked too large for the grip.  So I cut the sight window down and radiused the arrow shelf.  Picture compared to another untouched Hoyt Pro Hunter 58" 46#@28.  The re-make bow is just worked down not finished yet...tippit

I agree your bow looks pretty nice, but sorry...never heard of that Howett Pro Hunter.  I am familiar with the Hoyt Pro Hunter as well as the Howatt Hunter.  This is a new one on me.

Oops brain fart...it is a Hoyt Pro Hunter :dunno:  This getting old isn't fun!  Went back and tried to change it.

I've been looking for a nice one in my wt. for some time, but folks will not turn them loose.

...and yeah, getting old is not much fun... so we all better have our fun right now.

Nice bow. I have agreed Pro Hunter that I picked up for $20.00 years ago at a gun show. it is still in like new condition. I do not shoot it much as I am primarily a long bow shooter.
