Is 9 grains per inch/pound to light?

Always hunting for the perfect setup. I'm looking at  a setup with 23foc at 9 grains per inch per pound (the bare shaft was very impressive) but is this to light  for white tails & 3 bladed vpas.
 1535 28 1/4 2inch footing (2117 24grns 1/4 on nock end) 175 pt 50grn insert 3 41/2 feather(around 490 grns) 55@27 12 strand D-10 silvertip bow recurve

Personally, I'd put a two blade broadhead(even better single bevel) on that arrow just to feel a little better. But really I think that's more than enough medicine for any deer or bear out there...

Just go kill with it,shot placement is far more important than grains per pound in my opinion.

That'll work just fine for whitetail. if you're really uncomfortable with it, you can double up a long length of  weedwhacker line and slide it down the arrow shaft from the nock end. It'll up your gpi without changing the tune or FOC. 55 lbs is going to be plenty of medicine for deer.

For whitetails and bears your setup will work fantastic. Even 45# bows would blow thru deer at 9gr per pound. If you were to pursue elk I would use arrows in the 10-12 gr pp thou.

If it's the length of the shaft it will certainly have an effect on FOC. Would be no different than going from a 7gpi shaft to, say,  a 10gpi shaft.  The FOC will drop with more gpi along the entire shaft length.

GPP without consideration of actual draw wt means nothing with respect to lethality.

Could use aquarium tubing inside the shaft as well.
