Randy Madden at Primal Tech is definitely worth a look for longbows. He's relatively new but makes some great bows that are gaining popularity by the day.

Very subjective, depending on who you are talking to!

I would say for longbow it would be a Sarrels Blueridge takedown.

Cant help with recurve because I don’t have enough experience with different ones to have much of an opinion.

I'd have to recommend A&H longbows, any Habu product (particularly the VyperKhan), Black Widows.... probably Blacktail but I have yet to shoot/own one of those!

Yeah, I'd go with a Bob Lee.

But for $150?  Hard to beat a Red Wing Hunter (If you keep an eye out for used bows).  And I don't think a modern Lee would kill a deer much deader than an old one.   :archer2:

A few of those bows I haven’t heard of... the Primal tech and Sarrels to name a couple... I own or have shot most or the others and are all beautiful bows in my opinion... I’d love to flick a few out of the Border Clint...

Take a long look at Cari-bow Archery long bows and recurves. Abe Penner is a master craftsman. His bows are second to none.  :archer2:

I've stumbled across Stalker Stickbows by South Cox...  does any have first hand experience on how these bows shoot...?

Hey Clint... yes still have the Saluki Ibex and the Saluki Synthian... magical bows that's for sure... the Ibex probably holds down one of most memorable hunting trips to date...

We may have to hook up and test a few of our bows together one day... :archer2:

Hi Guy we had a group hunt the other week and Clint was there and that Border of his seemed quiet and fast, but he never let me shoot it. :dunno: Also a guy had a Stalker there and it was very well made and great looking bow. Old mate making them seems to have a lot of passion if you watch any of his videos. If you and Clint have a test and tune day count me in I dont live far from Clint. I have a few I can bring too for some bow swapping. :thumbsup:

Well, I've had three Brackenbury recurves and four Abbott longbows. Don't know if they're the best but I have always shot them well. Lots of other bows have come and gone too. Some were custom, some were factory. I killed lots of critters with all of them.

Lately I've been shooting economical Asian longbows and recurves. I shoot them pretty darned well too. Maybe the bow doesn't have much to do with it????

What's the best? There is no answer. I have found "the one" many many times. :)

Clint I was just messing with you until that week end I had not shot a bow in prob two years but it really inspired me again and I have been shooting almost every day. I had a shoulder injury which made me stop shooting and I wanted to start with a very light bow to see how it would hold up. That is why I didnt pester anyone for a shot at the time. I am really keen to organise another w/end to the same spot just as a trad get together and will keep you posted.
