Slow & heavy
« on: March 24, 2008, 08:22:00 PM »
Well I finshed my Hickory arrows and got them tuned to my Widow. Crap when I weighed them and chronied them. Fished arrow with 160gr snuffer 30"bop 80-85# Hickory 882gr @ 136fps, but hits the target like a Mac truck. KE is 36.26  slug momentum .5355 Not bad for a 53# recurve has more energy then my last 60# longbow with 575gr arrow. I know this is overkill for turkey and whitetail, but it shoots good and thats what counts.

Shoot yourself in the foot? Heck don't drop one of those bad boys on your foot unless you want a cast.

Yeah pretty much anything in North America will fall to those.

I picked up 75gr just from crown dipping, cresting, poly sealer, feathers and nock. I can cut them down a bout 1/2" maybe 1" they are still alittle weak spine, but I figure that is better just incase I short draw.

At 20 yards they should fly beautifully and be totally quiet!

I just put white feathers on them for now. I'm going to splice some red and black to put on the main white cock feather.

There was this fellow who played for the Chicago bears back in the eighties....weighed around three hundred pounds...he was big and slow too.....
I dont remember him ever being stopped at the line of scrimmage.
His name was Refridgerator Perry

Sorry Huntnut, It just came to mind and I had to share it.  I sure like the sound of you heavy hitters.

Question is: Can it stop a woodchuck?  A possum?  Or better yet a tree rat?  them, not deer, are the tough critters.....
