Skinny/micro shaft recommendations

Hi all,
Hoping for some advice on arrow set up.  Wanting to try a high FOC set up.
Bow is an acadian woods treestick #54@27", my draw is 27"
Broadheads are going to be the 250gr cutthroats and i would like to stay with my normal 4" 4 fletch and hoping to keep it between 530 and 570gr.

Any recommendations for a skinny or micro shaft that might fit the bill.

Should be fairly easy to do with Victory VAPs or Black Eagle X Impacts. Low enough gpi where you can pick and choose your components to hit weight.  I'm not much over your 570 limit and I'm shooting full length VAP 350s with 95gr outserts and 200gr heads.  You going to use stainless or aluminum components?

Prefer stainless but can go aluminum. Priced out the valkyrie system but I think it would require a divorce.

Haha. Ain't that the truth.  I've been looking at trying some of the new tapered shafts from Arrow Dynamics.  G nock tapered up to standard.  Low gpi but not having to deal with outserts. The VAPs fly like darts out of my setup now though,  just hard to switch from something that works.  Only thing I don't like about them is 30.5 shaft length,  and I have a 31" draw.  If not for the outsert I couldn't use them.  Long draw problems I guess!

I'm shooting black eagle x-impacts shafts but not with they're outserts or the valkyrie system. I used the pierce insert system from gold tip, which is a half- insert(allows using standard FPs and BHs thread pattern) and they're ballistic collar together. Haven't broke one yet,  just lost a few. I'd have to measure again,  but if i remember correctly, they measured around 33" from VON to BOP. 

Easy to get high foc with them,  I'm shooting 500 spine, (5.9 gpi I think). My total weight is around 450gr and I'm shooting 200gr points, insert system weighs around 40 gr. Great arrows

For my 55@27(I draw 27) I shoot a 30" axis 400 with a 100gr insert and 150 gr broadhead. Total weight 550. I lust like the longer arrow...I can drop to a .500 if I shoot 28"

Blackkeagle instincts are alright I guess. I don't really care for the outsert and I have got away from the skinny shafts. If your looking to get a high foc it's easier to do with a super light shaft. I recently got ahold of some 6.7 gpi shafts,cut em 28.75,  put a double footer to give me a taper look and stuck 325 gr up front.  Didn't do any math but they are seriously front loaded and fly like darts with 3x4 parabolics and no wrap.

I’m shooting VAP’s with the Valkyrie system. I haven’t found a stronger, more accurate and reliable system. I couldn’t keep the stainless or aluminum inserts in the VAP’s no matter what glue I used. I’ve also tried the GT Pierce. BE Instincts can be used with X-Impact outserts also if you’re like me and dislike the 100gr stainless outserts that come with the Instincts.

BEA X-Impacts with the Valkyrie components.  They penetrate pretty well when trees jump in front of targets, especially for a 400gn arrow.

I'm a big Victory VAP fan because of the heavy stainless insert they offer. But the Kinetic Pierce are nice arrows too but their inserts are too light for me because I wanted to use a 250 head too! There is a company by the name of Ethics that make some real nice after market inserts that might work for them. I have no idea what spine to recommend, wish you lived around, I have four different spines you could try.

I hate the VAP insert. I recommend the Firenock outserts regardless of the brand of arrow you choose.

I like the Victory RIP's or for even lighter the RIP XV's. They are skinny, light weight shafts that take a .204 insert. I am currently building a dozen RIP XV 500's for this season. I'm using Ethic's Archery's 100 grain SS inserts, and 18 grain's of AL external footing. Should be right around 525 grains and 20+% FOC with a 200 grain head. RIP 500's are 7 gpi, and the XV 500's are 5 gpi. A 300 grain head would put me right around 600 grains and 30+% FOC. Hmmm, I might just have to try that;)

The only glue I've found that works for the VAP outserts is the orange glue from Easton.

I've found two that work without fail, one is the super glue from Black Eagle that is black in color and the same basic stuff from Goat Tuff. Both are a rubberized super glue and both are black in color.

Did you see this thread, if I wasn't awash in the Victory VAPs and components, I'd probably give these a try. Shyed away from the larger diameter version of this before because of the non standardized inserts, but this one you can use standard brass inserts and the shafts are very reasonably priced.

I just built a dozen arrows that perfectly fit your description. I'm even planning to run Cutthroat 250's as well. Shaft=Victory RIP XV 500 Elite...Insert=Ethic's Archery 100 grain SS...Outsert=2" of 1816 aluminum shaft fits the OD of the RIP XV 500 nicely and extends about 1/2" beyond the insert for strength...Point=250 grain field point for now, 250 Cutthroat for deer season...=550 grain finished arrow weight, right around 30% FOC, and deadly quick out of my 50# Javaman Elkheart...

I just picked up a dozen victory vaps to try out of my longbow with 300 grain heads. Ive used them in the past with wheel bows but this will be my first venture in trad with them. Im curious how the super small diameter will react with the center cut of the bow. I have shot rips out of my great northern shadow last year but was very disappointed with the durability compared to easton axis. Hopefully the vaps hold up better.

You will be able to add a lot of tip weight if you stayed in the same spine, I went from .400 spine GT to a .400 Victory VAP and added almost 100gr extra weight to the tip. I can't recommend enough that you don't use the green aluminum inserts. I think the pewter colored ones that are shorter in length are stronger and don't bend as easy. The stainless ones are the best
