Jeff,
Sorry for your loss.  Been there several times and it is never easy.
The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.

Sorry to hear about your dog; I am facing a similar situation. It is never easy, but finding another seems to help.

Sorry to hear that. Those things are smart (stubborn) dogs. I bet she always greeted you when you get home for the day. That is a nice looking dog. I like those forehead "sprouts".
Do you mind is I ask how old she was? Our WHD is 14 and I thought she was gone 3 times. Two years ago I thought she wouldn't survive a deer tracking behind the house. She had lymes really bad for a while and never recovered fully and this spring suffered through UTIs several times that wiped her out. Her vision and hearing is getting bad, and if she keeps peeing on the floor she will soon be seeing Cash. But I'm sure she would blood trail until exhaustion if I needed her.

Tedd,
She would have been 9 this fall. Her mother Tilly another great tracking dog is still alive...but going deaf and arthritic. Cash's nose was something else as 50% of the time she would air scent rather than be on the trail. We breed Tilly (now 13) to John & Jolanta Jeanneney's stud dog Billy.  Her favorite spot was on top of the sofa looking out the bay window.

Now she can run free and not have to be confined by her radio collar. She actually broke through that once when a deer was hit on the road and ran up a right away behind our house. We had to take the other dog out and found her sitting on top of the dead deer...claiming it as her's

Would Tilley have come from the Erie PA area, and some descendant of one of Jeneanys blood lines? Molly air scents most of the time too. I took me a while to realize she would work on the downwind side of a blood trail by a few feet instead of right on the track. Isn't is funny how they "claim" a deer?

So sorry to hear this Jeff. I remember Cash and Tilly the times I stayed at your home. Their personalities always make a house feel more like a home. I have a soft spot in my heart for all dogs, especially great ones like yours. Hang in there buddy. BW

So very sorry for your loss. It’s a terrible feeling to loose a loving companion like a good dog. My wife and I lost our Riley this past April and I think of her every day. Thoughts and prayers for you.

Sorry for your loss, lost my yellow lab after 14 years a while back, he was probably the best friend I ever had.

Very sorry to hear this.  I am hopeful that you can get to a point where the fond memories of her will start to ease the pain of her loss.

So sorry, Jeff. One of the worst things we humans go through is losing a dog. Takes a piece of you with them. Remember the good times, it helps.

Sorry for your loss.  Tough times, but this pup is free from the pain and still tracking in the clouds.
