Footing sizes for carbon shafts.
«
on:
March 25, 2008, 11:12:00 AM »
Seems quite a few people are footing the end of their carbons with aluminum.
Thought I'd start a reference thread for shaft brands / sizes and which aluminum size works best when footed over them.
The only shaft I personally have footing experience is the Beman MFX 400.
I found the 2018 fits perfect (snug) over this brand and shaft size.
Please add to the thread if you've found a good combo.
Beman MFX 400 = 2018

I think there's some info out there on this but I'll add to what you've offered. On the Axis 400's I'm using 1916 for what I consider a perfect fit.. However on Beman Classic 400's had to go to your 2018 due to their larger diameter.
I really like footing these shafts for several reasons. I'm fortunate to have a lathe and after J-B weld gluing the aluminum pieces on I chuck the arrow in the lathe and face the footing so it is perfectly square. Makes broadhead alignment a snap! I'm sure that the footing will make the carbon shaft more durable than it already is. Great arrows !!

I
believe
CX Heritage 150s are a perfect fit into a 2213. I would imagine that the 250s should fit too.

2117 over the the Heriatge 150 as well as a 2216. The 2213 will work also but I did not have any to try. Shawn

I've found that for CX Heritage 250's a 2216 shaft fits perfectly.

I found a 2219 to fit on my old Beman Classic 340's pretty well.

Anybody ever footed GT's?
I'd like to get a bit heavier weight arrow but; the 35/55's at 28.5" are too good with 100 brass/125 head...without footing.
