Question on crack in riser
« on: July 31, 2018, 12:45:52 PM »
Last night while shooting my Checkmate Hunter II I felt and heard a crack upon release. A small crack is now visible in the lamination on the back of the riser.  I wondered if any of the experts here could suggest the best set of steps to make sure that I can continue to use the bow.  It might not be bad enough to worry about, but the fact I felt it go makes me worry. The crack is so narrow I would need a very fine syringe if I was going to get any epoxy between the laminations. Any help would be appreciated.  the crack is between my finger and thumb in the pict, between the maple and walnut lams. Thanks
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

Check with the bowyer first always. If you get no satisfaction there then ask us. Everyone will have failures and they need to be taken up with the bowyer first. Most will do whats right. I would not shoot that untill repaired or replaced.

From everything I understand, Checkmate is no longer an active bow making entity. Hence the reason I am asking for some input. Thanks for your response.

Fill the crack with super thin super glue.

Thanks, sounds like thin super glue is the way to go.
