Ordered my first woodies

Mismatched arrows show a couple of important things:

1. I shoot through many sets of arrows.

2. No matter how many sets I have , I match them perfectly and they all shoot exactly the same.

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it! (Does anybody believe this junk?)

I will be sure to go through and check weight and spine on all of them but for the most part at hunting distances i dont see there being any issues with weight varience. My main concern is spine which hopefully they will be all within a respectable range.

Mismatched arrows arent a bad thing at all. You may find that your wood arrows have more of an individual identity than carbon or aluminum. I write numbers or symbols on my nocks to distinguish each arrow. Not huge variances, and it mostly only comes up with stumping or wonky target shots, but knowing each arrow is just part and parcel for woodies to me. Its neither good nor bad, just is. That many eskimos would last me my lifetime (I’m a terrible hunter), and for 125, my favorite woody tip weight, they are all I use. Just got a pack in the mail thursday in fact. I hope you enjoy your wood arrows, they’re also all I shoot. I can’t tune carbon to save my life and wood arrows just seem to be more agreeable for me (in addition to a terrible hunter, I’m a terrible tuner). Good luck!

well put. I bought these for hunting and as far as deer hunting goes this set should last me a good long while. I hunt heavily pressured public land so most years 2 to 3 shot opportunities is all there will be. Even at 3 shots a year if i dont get the arrow back in useable condition thats 4 years of hunting out of 1 set of arrows. Now for target and 3d i do plan on a properly matched set but thats for another day lol

Woodies came in today. I was surprised to find in the dozen 5 that were crested and fletched the same, 1 oddball color and 3 pairs of color matched mates. Within the dozen from heaviest to lightest there is 38 grains varience with the 1 oddball being heaviest by 11 grains over the nearest. Even with that weight difference all arrows shoot well at my point on distance of 32 yards (3 under with middle finger anchor) and stay within my 6"×6" label thats on my compressed straw bale. Nothing i can complain about. The 5 mates ill be pulling the broadheads off of and will use them as my 3d set.2 of the pairs with the brightest feathers/nocks will be getting sharpened up for season and the remainders im going to put tips on for squirrels

Doesn’t get any better than that! Careful, woodies are a whole ‘nother obsession and before you know it you’ll convince yourself that you need matching set!

Im going to order some dio tubes so i can do my own. Im probably going to start with simple cap dips for now but plan to add a crester later on down the line

I like having different color combinations, especially when tuning. If one of them is "off", it's easy to identify. There can be oddballs in any set of woods.
