"Young" Man Law , New Mad Dog (Pics)
« on: March 25, 2008, 11:10:00 PM »
My son Jake, finally received his first new custom bow from Mike @ Mad Dog. He wanted so bad to open it but waited on me to get home from work before he did so we could open it together. It is cocobolo with bamboo and clear glass, it's 40#s @ 28 and really zings an arra. We didn't have much time tonight to set the brace or tune any arra's but we'll get her done tomorrow before we head off to OJAM for the weekend. Here's the pics.

Yes, Mike makes great bows.  All three of my boys have Mad Dog bows, they love them.  They look and shoot great.

Wow, sweet looking bow!  Mike is a top notch guy!

I have a little story to tell, please forgive me for hijacking your thread here, I'll make it quick...

My wife recently interviewed for a summer nanny job.  She immediately had a connection with the parents because the father had been trying to make a bow with his son.... long story short, the next day they traveled out to Mad Dog archery (3 hours) to interview Mike for the son's paper.  Mike ended up GIVING them a pup recurve because the son was so excited about archery.  Mike had mistakenly put black glass on the back and clear on the belly.  I have never heard a bad thing about Mike, class act.

Nice bow, looks like you are in for some quality time!

Very Cool! Congratulations!
Someday you and I will take the Great Hart by our own skill alone, and with an arrow. And then the Little Gods of the Woods will chuckle and rub their hands and say, "Look, Brothers. An Archer! The Old Times are not altogether gone!"

I wasn't so sure how bamboo under clear glass would turn out, but once I got that bow off the form, and took the masking tape off the limbs, I was suprised.

It looks like it suits him good. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to make a bow for him.
