New neighbors were a suprise.......
« on: September 12, 2018, 02:30:52 PM »
So me and the wife are settling in to our new home in Buford Ga. All is going well unpacking and such. I took a break to do some yard work, bunch of pine limbs were down from a storm. As I am picking them up I see them.....piles of deer droppings......lots of them. I am in the most populated spot I have lived and here there are deer in my back yard. I am happy with my new neighbors. I have to wait a bit before I can get a hunting tag but looking forward to the later season.

I'll have to look out there during the night to see if I can see the trespassers........ :biglaugh:

Post a sign:  "Trespassers will be shot on sight"

Fair warning...and a good beginning to filling the freezer, eh?  :dunno:

Get used to it. Many, many places in Georgia have sizeable deer populations that live in densely populated neighborhoods. Watch out which flowers and shrubs you plant, though. Roses in particular are prized treats. Also, I once made the mistake of leaving my deer target set up in the yard during the rut - a bad mistake. You're gonna like deer season in GA.

Heck! My dad lives in the middle of Boston and has seen deer, turkeys and coyotes pretty much everywhere in town. He’s sent me photos of his office near the port of turkeys strolling around within feet of the docks & another of them foraging around his condo then roosting on his SUV.

build a nice blind, put some nice foliage, or plants inside, they might hang around during the day.

Invite them in for a BBQ, really taste good over slow coals.
The essence of the hunt for me is to enter nature and observe+ return safely occasionally with the gift of a life taken.
