Got out Sat but warm and no deer moving. Watched this picture being taken. Out of range. Poor yote.

This was him earlier this year

As much as I dislike seeing a lot coyotes where I'm hunting, I hate to see them get mange and go into the winter like that.  You know that's a miserable way to go, and I don't wish that on anything.  They are a very cunning and interesting animal to observe.

Agreed on all counts.

Out tonight, saw about 20 including 2 bucks . One was chasing a doe in the field(little beggar) and the other was pushing deer around in the thick cover. Saw him once right at dark, big body but couldn't tell anything much on rack...

Deer all around me and no snorting, love that!! :bigsmyl:

Anybody else late season hunting?

This is a little late,  but I thought I'd share.

My hunting goals were a bit modified this year with a new baby at home.  My main goal was to harvest a buck on public land accessed by canoe.

I have access to some pretty decent private land, but I love the chess match of hunting new areas.

I was fortunate to achieve my goal on a comfy October evening.

Went at 2 this afternoon, must have been late, saw 8 on the way to stand and more all evening. Think deer like nice weather as much as we do!!

Passed a half rack at 12 yards that I probably would have shot if he hadn't been so hard on his headgear!

Seems to be feast or famine now, they are bunched up quite a bit.  More eyes to fool!
4 big does with one fawn last eve at 3:00 then nothing except squirrels.

Saw 26 in one 25 acre beanfield a few days ago....

Took the pathfinder out for it's first hunt the evening before but didn't see a thing.  I think the full moon has them moving after dark
