This is leftover inventory from the business, kept in dry storage for 20 years. These are premium matched sets made from yellow poplar wood. We bought premium logs from select loggers in our area and sawed the wood in-house, parallel to the grain rather than squaring up the log before cutting into boards as is done by ordinary lumber mills. We dried the boards in a custom dehumidification kiln by a carefully controlled low-heat schedule we developed to protect the integrity of the wood, and to avoid drying stresses being trapped in the wood. Dried boards were gang-ripped into squares and made round in a customized doweling machine. We designed and had built a custom arrow tapering machine, and barrel tapered all the shafts before sanding. In hindsight we probably went a little overboard, but I don't think we could have produced a better quality wood arrow shaft.
