I should have had a buck to show you Ger . I was seconds from releasing on a big 8pt yesterday when my phone went off ! I always turn it off before I leave the house but somehow I didn't yesterday. I watched the 8pt with his little 6pt buddy slowly, I mean very slowly ,feed down a ridge towards me for almost an hour. The big guy was at 25yds walking to me angling broadside ,6pt was already past me, I was standing with the bow pointing at him just waiting for a couple more steps to draw, release ! Phone with its screaming eagle sound and music goes off .Not my wife's fault. What are the odds ? I needed a couple seconds at most. It was my second encounter with a bigger buck this year that has failed ; I wonder how many more I'll need .Yikes.  :dunno:I did fill a doe tag from the ground on my way in to my stand last Thursday and its been awhile since I got one that way. I'm just cursed when it come to the big guys. Good luck and make sure to turn off the stinking phone.

Congratulations Jim on a great harvest, congratulations to all the other successful hunters.  Marvin we all know you can shoot so it was a lucky break for that buck. Hopefully you will have another encounter with a positive outcome.

Hunters moon is waning so daytime buck activity is going to take off starting next week. It's one of the few old time hunter sayings that I absolutely believe and have observed to be true. Not the crazy rut yet just more movement. Best time to hunt is whenever you can.. but watch next week and see what happens. I will be living in a tree !
