Sneak Peek
« on: October 12, 2018, 06:56:45 PM »
Here are a couple pics of the new design... It's just rough sanded and has not been tillered yet...  I feel I got really lucky being that it is the first one...  I may do a little tweaking and stiffen up the tips just a hair...

If that is 28 in. it looks good. a couple more in. may need tip wedge.

I will have all the numbers in a few days...  Right now she is 64" ntn, 54# and has over 91% string tension...  The DFC also looks pretty good...

Very Nice Shredd.  Good numbers there.
Can you explain the string tension number and how it was obtained?

It is the percentage of tension on the string compared to the draw weight on the bow...  I guess it does... The formula is: string tension divided by draw weight times two...

  This bow  DW 48.6 x 2= 97.2

     ST 89.7 / 97.2 = 92%

That makes sense to keep it relative to draw weight.  One more question: how do you measure the tension in the string?

Its just a simple scale in the middle of a bow string...  Turnbuckle is for adjustment..   Here is a pic I sent on another forum of a grinder...  The scale on the string just happens to be in it...

Thanks for the pic.  That's exactly what I had envisioned in my mind... I had no idea the string tension was that much.  89.7 lbs.  Is that normal?

String tension is close to double the draw weight...

It is the percentage of tension on the string compared to the draw weight on the bow... I made up a formula in which I did not know if it would go over 100%... I guess it does... The formula is: string tension divided by draw weight times two...

  This bow  DW 48.6 x 2= 97.2

     ST 89.7 / 97.2 = 108%

Might have to modify my formula if it is going over 100%...  It is basically just a reference number that helps me to read the bow better...

I’m not sure if your math in Florida is different than here in Ohio but.......
That’s 92.3% not 108 :dunno:
