Retro/Modified 4 x 4 Hunting Transporters
« on: October 16, 2018, 01:31:57 PM »
OK guys...lets see your iron horses that get you there and back....

Oldies that have been modified or not from the 80s back...

And your new ones that HAVE been modified ONLY.  (Not looking for stock trucks in late models from 90s forward).

(Note: This is NOT about ATVs, ....FULL SIZE Autos only)

Here's mine...

1972 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40

I dig the FJ40 Terry, I'm a diehard old Toyota guy.

This is my pops 1969 Bronco. We have been driving it for 20 years now. Brought home my first deer and nearly every one since. I need to get around to painting it one day soon...

Here's my '87 Toyota that I sold a couple years back. Drove it through high school, then did a solid axle swap, gears, lockers, and it escalated from there! Drove it everywhere, even to Maryland a few times from AL. Guy had to have it and I finally sold it:

This one was fun, '69 VW baja. I did the big bore engine with dual carbs, bus transaxle, bodywork, paint everything. Daily drove it for two years while I was building my Toyota truck. Hey, it ain't 4WD but it's hold out it's fair share of game!

So now that I'm getting older, I decided to buy myself something modern, nice and cushy. Naturally, it had to be a Toyota, so I lucked up and found the "white whale" of the Toyota world, the 1985 4Runner. This one will stay mostly stock except for gears, LSD diffs, and I'll build some bumpers for it. It's gonna be my main squeeze for quite a while, I'm tired of building stuff lol

1956 Ford.  Sadly mine's not a 4x4. Just a RWD.  But big-ass rears.

Haha can't wait to see everyone's rigs!!
I have a modified 95 jeep that I put a lift on and some 33x12.5's on.  Then I got tired of having blood in the back so I welded up a extended front deer bumper so I can just strap them in the front ha.
I'm to dum to post pics but if someone feels like it or wants to see shoot me a pm.  I can email or txt pics

Mr. Ron, have you considered a rack that slides into your hitch receiver?

Love the FJ and the Bronco (especially with the heeler).  I also like the early 4Runner.

I'm a huge jeep fan.  I have two.  So here's a couple of pics.

No, I'm kinda old fashioned, when I started killing deer people tied them on the fender....like this.  :archer:

Terry, that Land Cruiser sure brings back memories. I also had a '72. Man, what a vehicle! I wish I had held on to it. After that, I never had another 4WD vehicle until my current 2013 Tacoma.

Had a 2-door 1989 Mitsibishi Pajero 5-speed and a 1991 Toyota Land Cruiser when I was stationed in Japan, both diesel.  Wish I could have brought one back, especially the Pajero.

I'm working on rebuilding my '81 CJ7 that I picked up from TX a couple years ago. It's currently torn apart, waiting for a new Cummins R2.8 motor, new AX15 transmission, rebuild the Dana 300, and new D44 axles. It will be a hard top again, finished entirely with Linex. Once finished, it will be my daily driver and hunting vehicle.
