First of year

This season has been unusually slow with fewer deer in bow range as normal. Had a nice heavy horn 6pt. on camera and Saturday evening I had a good wind to hunt that particular area. Saw a few does early on and I knew it was a matter of time before a buck cruised through. This area is pine and very thick. I kicked out a scrape 10 yards from tree. Once i climbed tree I realized I didn't have many shooting options. One thing I did know was that mock scrape was in the direction i could shoot the best. It so thick in here it gets dark quickly. With about 30 minutes of shooting light left ,a buck comes in a brisk walk. I assumed it was the wide 6pt. and drew on him as his feet touched that scrape. As most instinctive shots go, the arrow was off and found its mark. I heard him crash about 50-60 yrds. away. Turned out it was a decent 8 pt.This is the 3rd deer with this Stickflinger, killed a dandy 12pt last year . Simmons tiger shark head.

Nice one !! I have 2 that are almost exact brothers to your buck coming around I have had them at 10 yards but failed to get a shot . Ground blinds are hard to shoot out of to get the right angle . Good for you nice buck !
