I've owned several custom bows in my lifetime. I have only used my own home made bows for the last 15 years. BUT if I was to buy a new bow Big Jim's bow or Zipper would be at the top of my list.
Most people get rich by making more money than they have needs, me, I just reduced my needs!

Those are some sweet looking bows. I don't own one of big jims bows but have shot some at cloverdale. Sweetest shooting longbow Ive ever shot will own one in future!

satin finish
riser - spatted or quilted maple-stabilize with ebony footing
black and white ebony veneers
black beaver tail
spring-bok backing and tips

I’d be tempted to do quilted maple on the limbs. For the riser I’d go with quilted maple, myrtle burl, or buckeye burl. If you like a flare in the riser I would do black G10 and black horn overlays on the riser and tips. Otherwise I’d keep the riser clean looking and do a sheep horn or deer antler overlays.
