Exactly, Rob
My little man, Pheasant lived to be 17 years old.
He was an English Pointer.
I cried like a baby when he passed away.

A dog can be such a friend. Only those who have had and loved a furry friend can understand your loss. It truly is the loss of a family member.

My thoughts are with you. I lost my English Springer Spaniel at 15. My Curly is now 10 and my tracking dog. He will probably be the last of my dogs. I'm getting too old to start again and leave one behind.
They do bring a fullness to your heart that I can't imagine another animal providing.

I feel your pain and sorrow...my favorite furry partner died in my arms 14 years ago on 11/24/2004 and I still remember the good times we had and the heartbreak I felt when he died.

Sorry for the loss Tedd. We just put our male down at 13 years old due to bone cancer. It's a brutally hard thing to have to do. They are truly special friends.

So sorry for your loss, they aren't pets, they are family. My wife and I have a black lab named Molly, she will be 2 on Christmas day, we also have a yellow lab Cooper that will be 7 in February. They mean the world to us. I also cried like a baby when we had to put our chocolate lab down at 5 due to lymphoma, and his sister at 13. They are always with us and a part of us.

Sorry about your loss. Dogs give so much more than they take. Boy, Mollie sure was sure guarding that deer!

Thanks everyone. This is from a scouting hike. We weren't sure if the dog was tired or faking it! But she wanted to be carried out.

So sad for you my friend. My eyes cloud up just reading this. My best buddy will be 12 in a few months and starting to slow down a lot.

So Sorry for your loss. Molly sounds like she was boon companion.
Like others have posted here, we have all loved and then lost our dogs to a variety of maladies, including old oage. And yet, for all the heartache that we know comes from losing one's canine companion, we just know we will do it again.
