Imb laminations

I have acquired several lamination only thing is they are all parallel s...was wonder has any one ever made a bow with just parallels and if so how did it perform? Smoothness stacking and so forth...thanks

I've never used tapered lams.  They perform well and don't stack.  Stacking problems can come from overall design issues more than from lack of a couple thousandths taper.

To much taper will cause stacking. Less taper will  bend more even all the way thru. I have used all parallels in both curves and longbows. Deeper core then you can go narrow profile.

You need to balance taper rate with bow design.  I don't build recurves so can't say on them, but I use from .001 PI to .003 PI in my longbows. Some guys building narrow bows use up to .006 PI  because you have less to taper on sides of limbs.


Try one with your design and study it at full draw to see where to go .


If the lams have been around awhile, I would scuff them with a sanding block and blow dust off right before use.

Thanks for all the information gives me the info I needed. I will try a couple with just the paralels and see what happens.
