I've got to finish this bow for my oldest son.  It is 58 inch 28 lb @ 22 inches right now.  Little brother needs one too so I started his today.  After that I'll try to make a full size bow for me.  I've got some cane drying so maybe I'll give that a try too if I can find the time.

I'm new to building stuff, but I've made some New Year's resolutions to:
-Build one bow or one dozen arrows every two months.  Right now I'm about to start tillering my first bow for my 5 year-old nephew.
-Complete one project (tiller tree, tiller bench, knife, taper jig) per month.

Gonna maybe build a router jig for making arras.

Got a BBO with a small fracture from a pin knot that will be patched per Dean's article. I'll post a pictorial when the time comes.

Gonna do something with the century stave from Timo (ABC selfbow mojo?)

Gotta build two bows for my girls.

Gotta invent time travel so I can do all this stuff.
Got wood? - Tom

Not many "projects" but certainly some resolutions/hopes for the new year....

My hope is that the good Lord will let me spend more time hunting this year, specifically hunting with my friends and family from tradgang.

Pick a dangblasted hair, without fail, on every darned critter that walks into bowrange.

Break in the ghillie suit I got for Christmas by getting blood all over it.

I'd like to kill a few animals with some special broadheads I've been saving.

Spend more time shooting my bows than I do working late at my office.

Do a better job at cresting and build some really pretty arrows for my family to use this year's 3D season.

Try not to ORDER any more bows this year (notice I said order...not buy/sell/trade). Course the two new ones that are coming in the next few months are technically last years orders so they don't count   :D

Experiment with wood & aluminium arrows to actually see the effects of under/overspine. That should put me well into July! Then, get a matched set of the correct arrows and work on form, form, form, and more form. Toughen up my mental & physical being for hunting. Work out a strategy to deal with buck fever.

Then go out and hunt, and maybe, just maybe, follow a good blood trail. May you all have a good year, too!

I'm going to learn to make arrows... finally.   I've been sidling up to it since last spring, but should actually start doing it today or tomorrow, depending on my wife's to do list.   I owe her a day because she encouraged me to go to the New Years Day 3D yesterday and went with me.   Had a blast, though a damp one.   While working on the arrows, I'll also be laying track on a new model railroad that shares the bow room.  as for the year itself...get to as many trad 3D shoots as I can, hopefully including the NALS in Alberta.

well, since I'm new to traditional I plan on learning as much as I can including how to shoot a recurve. I am also tinkering with the idea of making an Osage bow. There are several trees on my lease.

My 2007 archery goals (not in order) are...

[] Make alot of arrows to fling at small game
[] Build my first adult size longbow
[] Hunt exclusively with my bow in 2007*
[] Get a limit of squirrels
[] Get at least one cottontail and snowshoe
[] Get a turkey both spring & fall
[] Get a duck or two
[] Get at least one goose
[] Get all WT deer with bow this year
[] Get a limit of grouse
  [] Do some bowfishing again
[] Get my brother and brother-in-law to hunt trad
[] Encourage my wife to start shooting again
[] Make a buckskin & fir quiver
[] Make the buckskin belt pack I designed
[] Get good moose hide mocassin boots for stalking

*Why: Because I want to prove to myself I can do it and hone my skills at stalking.

Now let's see how many of these I actually do.     :readit:

This is bow building time for me. I've just finished up 2 and have lots of wood to work with.  Someone gave me a take down sleeve I'd like to play with.  Collect more sourwood shoots for arrows. I've already cleared out my woods of them for this year, now it time to hit the road banks and do my civic duty...prune the sourwood shoots from along the county roads near my house.   Make up some more arrows(sourwood) with stone points.
Get ready for next years hunting season. Hopefully I'll be able to take my first deer with my own primitive tackle.

I need to finish the bow for my daughter, bought a stave from John Scrifes way too long ago, and have not finished it yet.  Plan on buying some wood shafts and making small game arrows.  Need to fill a tag on whitetail from a treestand- haven't been able to close that deal yet...
and finally- make it through the year without any medical issues popping up, last year was enough!

A backup bow to avoid what has happened 2 years in a row now lol. Get all set up and practice just to have the bow either delam, or twist a limb, or break one week before opening. No excuses this year.

I'm working with a troubled 8 year old.  Got a bow coming for him and hopefully the stick an string, and some postive friendship/mentoring will be the thing to get him on the right track.

Making nutters
OK i have to ask now what are nutters and how are they made? Also on my trad. list i want to set an electric pole in my yard to put a light on and tree stand in for day and night shooting. I also want to make a set up with a roof and lights to house my targets. With the open winter we are having I'm getting all my firewood cut now so i have time later for the good stuff.
