Urban Lumber
« on: November 30, 2018, 04:25:24 PM »
So, I was over on the Left Coast this fall visiting some good friends, one of them being a Wood Carver and it was suggested to me that I visit some Urban sawmills. Next time I go there I'm taking a trailer! Any of you that live near Urban areas, should check to see there are any sawmills around. Good source for exotic wood and no deforestation guilt. I did not have room for much, but I could not resist this chunk of Blackwood Acacia, should make a few nice handles.

Also learned something new, California Bay Laurel is also known as Oregon Myrtle, which my friends had in abundance on their property. Another reason for dragging a trailer. Had to grab a couple chunks of it. More handle wood.

When it comes time for a new change you could try "Dodger"

Hurry up and make a handle from that Acacia Lig, I bet it'll be stunning.

I'm itching to slice some wood. Dealing with a nasty chest cold right now. Think it's Karma from another inappropriate post I made.
