Broadhead adaptor/insert for skinny arrows
« on: December 07, 2018, 10:00:02 PM »
Hello all,

I’m looking at switching around my broadhead setup to Tuffhead Meatheads (190g glue on). I’m currently using Victory Carbon Trads but am also looking at trying the new GT Traditional Classic XT’s. Both have an inside diameter of .204” and come with heavy insert/outserts. I’m looking for a product such as a brass 75g broadhead adapter (insert+adapter all in one) to use by itself to keep the weight from being too extreme. The ones I have seen online have a very short insert section. Has anyone had any experience with these to say they are reliable?

My other option would be a aluminum insert and a steel glue on adapter or a brass insert and aluminum glue on adapter. Who sells decent lightweight .204” inserts? Looking to keep my tip weight at 265g-315g. All help will be appreciated! Thank you.

I use the ACE brass broadhead adapters, you can get them in 100 or 125gr weights. No issues with them.

I prefer Firenocks inserts for .204 arrows.

I should mention you glue the ACE adapter in, and glue your head straight to that. No issues with heads coming unscrewed or anything. 100gr would put you at 290-300 up front depending on how much glue you use,  125 would obviously put you in 315-325gr up front.

Thanks for all the suggestions and experienced reviews. The Ace ones look a tad longer then the other one I’ve seen, and those Abowyer’s look even more solid. Appreciate the help guys.

I have been using aluminum inserts and aluminum adapters for 35 years and I haven't had any problems yet.

A Bowyer make some titanium ones and I recall they have a small diameter. I'm talking about the adapters.
