I think you mean your "point on distance" is about 20 yards? That's very short for most, at least if you are not string walking. GENERALLY, if you shoot split finger with a decent facial reference (anchor) position your point on will be somewhere around 60 yards. IF shooting standard 3 under, MOST find their point on around 30 yards.
DEPENDING on how you hook the string with your fingers, a 20 yard point on would indicate a very high on the face position for your hand so I'd agree that it SOUNDS like you are anchoring too high.
We really need to see what you are doing to do more than answer in VERY general terms. And again, string walking will move the arrow high on the face but the hand is still down around the area of your cheek.
If you are just doing a survey, you'll get a million answers of all kinds of distances, including "I have no clue what mine is."
