Olde Florida Bowhunting
« on: December 26, 2018, 11:49:09 AM »
A friend and our wives are headed to the Ft. Pierce Florida area for vacation in a couple of weeks.

We are gonna squeeze in a couple day hog hunt with Jim Dussais at Olde Florida Bowhunting.

We're looking forward to our first hog hunt.  Anyone hunted with Jim before?

Also, any must see or eat places in that area?

Thanks!!

Brian

Yeah I hunted with him a few years ago. He is the real deal! Great guy and all fair chase. No low fence and in a few days you should have shot opportunities. Also there are tons of gray squirrels to shoot at while you hunt.  Lots of fun

I've hunted with Jim for years, great guy! You will have a good time and have opportunity at hogs and tons of small game.  These pics are from last Christmas, my buddy and I both doubled up. Headed back at the end of April, cant wait!

Good luck and post pics! Your Guide, Jim, is currently occupying my barn blind in search of another NC whitetail.   :coffee:

Look up Carters Grocery. They have amazing BBQ. The place isn't much to look at but the food is great.

Brian,  Check out the Navy Seal museum on the island.   Also give me a call if you want.  I’ve hunted Jim’s Dead Horse Ranch before.   Chad

We're back after a very fun adventure with Jim Dussias!

My buddy was able to get 2 hogs.  1 over a feeder and the 2nd while doing spot and stalk.

My unlucky streak followed me south from northern MN.  I had a group of piglets come into the feeder one evening and I was able to stalk to about 25 yds of a sow before she ducked into the woods.

Jim worked hard to get me a shot, I hunted 4 different stands and spot and stalked one morning, in 3 days of hunting.  It just wasn't in the cards this time.  Trail cam pics showed most of the hog activity was after dark.

I also saw bobcats on 3 different sits, a opossum, gray squirrels, and a variety of birds that we don't get to see up here in northern MN.

I would definitely recommend hunting with Jim and am planning on giving it another try in the future.

We also spent some time at Jensen Beach by Port St. Lucie and ate at a variety of places in that area and also in Fort Pierce.

I'd like to give a huge shout out to Mission BBQ for their support of the military and law enforcement and their BBQ was very good too!!

I see that Jim has our video up on his youtube channel if you want to take a look.
