Don't know about Supergrit, but I agree with you Stic, 3M sandpaper is the best. My local lumber yard used to sell 3M, but for some reason switched to Gator Grit, which is total crap. Now I have to mail order sandpaper sheets!

Today I put a few final details on a 17 inch riser I made from a pc of walnut leftover from a gunstock blank. Its not a very dense pc of wood and does have some flex to it. But it only supports 25 lbs Sage limbs. That’s about all I can shoot due to shoulder problems.
It all went fine until the finish was put on. I had “preserved” some opened Truoil by storing the bottle in a larger glass jar filled with an oxygen blocker. It looked good; no jelling or film. Unknown to me the drying agents had “escaped”  and what should have taken a week took months.
I’m calling it done. It shoots good but does need a bit more tuning.

Thanks Flem.
It actually has some nice “rainbow” colored mineral streaks in it the camera did not pick up.
I hope it holds up. Its my first riser so I’m already planning what I would do different on the next one. Like I was told, this is addictive.

Got 2 pieces of 1.5X1/16 aluminum strips, and an inner tube today,

Going to glue 1 strip on the Form full length and drill for the dowel-stop  ----good idea? Bad Idea?

2cd strip ill glue a lamp cord down the center and cut an inch longer than my bow pieces--right?

thanks
John

should i sand the aluminum with 600 or 800 grit ? before using?
,
will the EA-40 glue the bottom aluminum piece to the form if i use it? or should i go with regular store bought epoxy?
,
can I whipe the aluminum with carnauba wax before the glue up?

thanks
john
