Nice Kenny!

I bet they are heavy with those phenolic risers.
Will the pattern disappear in the phenolic once its finished?

Looks nice Kenny!

I was just mindin' my own business shooting my latest bow and heard something hit the wall behind my target...Think I'll stick with antler from now on...the FF string was a little too much for the purple heart :dunno:

That could have been tragic!
Seems like Purple Heart is dense and pretty, but not too much shear strength.

Finally on the second set of limbs I got within guaranteed weight. Maybe the BO glass thing bit me. Anyhow got some done on it today.

Stic, I’m assuming you meant BP glass. How much did you miss weight by?

9 on the first set and 2 on the second set. The numbers I went off of on the first set worked for two other bows using Gordons. I also notice that when chamfering the bolt and dowell holes with a stone it seems there is more resin content in the BP. Hoping they get this corrected. Cause it is nice and clear.

Ya purple heart lost my favor for anything structural from now on....I actually shot it one more time after the tip popped off not knowing what had happened...luckily the thicker phenolic piece held and the string didn't take any damage :biglaugh:

Don’t take this the wrong way but that makes me feel a little better. I built a hickory bow and we spliced in Purple Heart tips to get rid of twist. 100 shots in and the lower tip came apart. I’ve wondered for 2 years what went wrong. Now seeing these failures around here I’m pretty sure it was the Purple Heart that failed. I was using B50 Flemish twist.

Stic, here is what I have found out about Bow laminates. Gordons is 70% resin, 30% fiber by weight.
Bearpaw is 75% fiber, 25% resin by weight. I have discovered thru experimenting that the compressive strength of the resin adds more draw "weight" than the tensile strength of the fiber does.
