I agree with these guys... Finish what you started and have fun with it... What I said in my earlier post are some basic guide lines that I or some may follow... We are all in this for different reasons and have different approaches...  I am curious how that riser is gonna turn out...

Steve, you need to get the area outside of the fades bending more

If you had a dollar for every time.......  :biglaugh:

Here are the instructions for a gizmo;

Thanks Eric! Noted for next time.

Worked the fades some more, which dropped it down to ~low 30's# so I piked 1" of each tip (currently 66" NTN) and re-worked a little. Now 43# @ 28. Have shot a few dozen arrows through it and slimmed and shaped the grip a little. Think I'll leave it as is, and move onto the next project as a 30# isn't really useful for me if I really work out the fade area, unless the brains trust thinks a novice can pike another 1" to get it into a useful weight. Might use it as a test bed for finishing, steaming tips etc.

Started working on my next project (boo backed cypress board) and was shaping the plan profile of the board with my drawknife on my shaving horse. My 4yr old came over:

'Can I work with you daddy?'

'Sure thing' (gotta love that!!!)

Kept working away, then:

'Can I use this?' (this being my big farriers rasp)

'Sure, just keep a good hold of it'

More silence, me shaving away not really paying a lot of attention

'Can I pretend this is one of your bows?'

Here is am update on the dried green tomatoes Roy.

Todays experiment; frying frozen okra with dehydrated green tomatoes and fresh onions.

I poured a handful of dehydrated vacuum sealed green tomatoes into a bowl and covered them with water. It only took a minutes or so for them to rehydrate.

After I breaded my okra I squeezed the water out of the tomatoes and threw them in the bowl with the breaded okra with the leftover flour/meal and gave them a good shake to cover the pieces.

I found the dehydrated tomatoes cooked twice as fast as the partially frozen okra. Although they didn't burn the pieces did become chocolate brown by the time the okra was done as is shown in the picture. Next time I will incorporate them into the mix about the same time I add sliced onion or 75% through the okra cooking process.

The added taste was just like adding fresh green tomatoes to frying okra, wonderful.

Rough cut and rough sanded some of my Riser,
My sander tried to give up the ghost,
I used my ax to convince it to keep running for awhile longer, (beat it into submission and re-alignment)
but its now missing the 6inch disk  :biglaugh:
Ya git what ya pay for, and I dint pay much,

the only good part is I know for dang sure the limb-mounts are Square/Plumb and in alignment with each other,
and are at the spec'ed 21 deg  oops--12 deg :) whew,,
all else is probably looking like a self-bow,,, :biglaugh:

lots more hand sanding to go, doing some serious thunking on the grip area, as you see I kept away from it,

and I only cut 5/8 Deep not the 7/8ths to center, of the arrow rest
one Birds telling me to cut down an inch (the faint center pen line you can see)  and glue up some end-grain palm for the curved/arrow rest?
cause its looking naked right there,
another birds telling me to leave it as is, don't mess with it,,

dang birds are gonna drive me nuts,

cheers
