Yeah I agree, nice looking wood combo
Is that a typical amount of taper for the design?

Usually I do not use a powerlam in a straight limb design, but this time I did. With that amount of taper I think I will not have to make so much adjusting, I’ll let you know how it works out. :)

Today I got short break from the misery of winter. I got to shoot a few arrows and retrieve them while waking on bare ground. Had two days of rain & 45 degrees that melted the snow we had.
Usually we have about 18 inches on the ground by now and you have to shovel before you shoot. Snowing hard out now so that ends that.
Sorry, mini rant.  Now back to bow making.

Putting a trilam together. Belly european hornbeam, center european walnut, backing hard american maple, powerlam jatoba.
Will be a straight limb one with one inch backset.
All three full length lams have a .003 taper.

Looking forward to following this.

I started shaping the handle and glued the back overlay.
I shot a couple arrow too. Noisy... No hand, good speed but it is loud. I need to think about a way to improve this

No dry rot, they have been taken well care of.
Need a desk chair in my shop, so I can sit down comfortably and have a stiff drink before operating machines. Need to steady them old nerves. :goldtooth:

Today I started on a couple of bow racks out of an old snakey osage log.  I got it sliced in half.

I also cut into a wild cherry tree that has been down for a while.  It looks like it's spalted in areas.  The outside is kind of mushy but the inside seems solid.  I think it's worth taking to a saw mill and getting it cut into boards.  I'm hoping the spalting gets better towards the trunk.
