Some folks get there the Friday or Saturday before. I try to get there early in the week but this year I might be a few days late.
A few years ago we had 30 something folks sign up for the Selfbow Challenge then on Friday 35 Boy Scouts(and a girl) showed up and signed up. By Sunday morning everyone had shooters and shot the competition with the other challengers. It was a real challenge but we did it.
Once the Selfbow Challenge is underway they have the full use of the bow building shop. After hours anyone can work in the shop.

Thanks Pat , I just retired and now I can take the extra time to make the Tennessee Classic just trying to decide when to get there, It is one of the shoots that I have heard so much about , I have only been to  ETAR and Baltimore Traditional Classic and I can't wait for the Tennessee Classic  and the selfbow challenge , can I bring a bow that is started or does it have to be a bark on stave?

Tom, after hours you will have access to the bow shop. Whether you can bring a partially built bow, you'll have to ask Pappy or maybe Shawn can answer.

Long as you have not started to string tiller yet. You can have it cut out and about floor tillered I reckon. I see guys buy Matts bows which are floor tillered and compete in the Selfbow challenge. Come early, when I say early I mean Thursday morning and guys will already be building.

Things are really looking nice at the farm now. Getting very green. We almost hit 80 yesterday. Wood piles are getting cut and moved around farm for camp fires. There is a new section over overhead (under tin) barn for vendors 40'x20'. Upper fields have been cut for campers. Some trees are starting to leaf out and the May Apples and Trilliums are all out on ground now.

On short and Final now.

A quote this morning from Pappy...

"Folks will start showing up in about 3 more weeks and the shoot less than a month. Can't wait to see all my old friends and hopefully meet some new ones. ;)
 Pappy"

The gang at Twin Oaks just finished up the addition to the venders shed this weekend. I think it is now 20'x40' with a skirted roof all around and this year a new and improved shower building instead of the army style tent we've used the last few years. The firewood stack is growing and remote piles placed around the camping area for anyone's use. Those guys are the hardest working group I've ever seen. Hardly a weekend goes by without a work crew of one sort or another.

I don't know anything about T Shirts but that Miss Joanie takes care of that. If you come early you'll get one.

If the weather report is good the week before shoot ya better come early! We have had some really really nice early spring weather here. was 83 yesterday. My garden is half in (taking a chance) and all my warm weather stuff is in starter trays. Fingers crossed. Had 25mph winds all day yesterday and then a short heavy rain last night. It is really greening up early this year.

The shower is done. Has plastic floor, H &C water, dressing side. As you know if you want to use it "the early bird gets the worm". The skin of it is the poplar vertical siding in Twin Oaks fashion. Its nice 10'x10' and done right.

I think Miss Joanie usually shows up on Friday with the T shirts.
We'll be wrapping up a job we've been doing on St George Is Fl for 3 weeks on Tuesday. That will give me a few weeks  :saywhat: to get my honey do list and other stuff done before heading to Twin Oaks. I can hardly wait!

The KY spring turkey season opened today. Once again, the woods was devoid of any gobbin or turkey talk. Possibly another rough season on the farm.

It should be quite difficult for an avid turkey hunter to wish away turkey season. However, the current dismal turkey population in my area, as experienced over the past four seasons, has reduced the raging fire to nearly an imperceptible smolder. Thank goodness for the TO’s Spring Classic.

Bring it on!!!

Hope for a dry May for hens to set Scott!

I have not have a chance to go. Have seen very few in fields and have not heard a gobble yet at the house! Seen plenty coyotes running. My friend over by exit four has been keeping the 6.5mm with him on the machine when spreading fert and Ready Round Up. Tell ya what it greened up in a hurry with those 80 degree days and some damp weather!! Dogwoods are at peak right now here.

Like to finish this HHB bow at Classic. Cut at Christmas 2017 with my son on a steep bluff. It was laying on its side after a 100ac had been logged out six yrs prior. Had a tree laying on it so it had a bunch of reflex grown in. Pretty hunk of lumber.

Yeah, let's get this weather behind us before the Classic although a little rain never put a damper on any Classics before. Can you say 14" in two days?  :o
