Adding a connexion or bow latch

Hey yinz guys.... I have a Robertson Mystical that I want to make into a 2 piece.  It was 66# and I trapped the limbs to take some weight off.  It was my first time doing it and it was pretty easy.  I just used a 4 way rasp and some sandpaper. It is now 55#.  I want to add a hinge or takedown system of some kind.

What does the riser look like. maybe a fiberglass wrap would be better.

I think the riser is dymondwood but I'm not sure.  Is this a suitable wood to hold the screws?

This is how I did mine,  the hinge is a heavy duty $10.00 marine hinge, its a little sloppy but once the bow is braced its good to go.  I have to rig up a latch incase the bow or string breaks it may hurt my fingeeeees.   I have another hinge that I ground down on one side so I get closer to center shot.

Jim does have the stuff and has videos on U tube how to do it. It wold be a bit harder with an already finished bow but very doable.

I checked out the videos on you tube.  Doesn't look too hard but I don't know if I have enough wood in my riser.

You may be better off going with something if your present riser has no ibeam. For me to feel safe about the sleeve TD An of center I beam for strength usaly G 10 is what I use.

I was thinking the same thing.
If it were me, I wouldn't risk a bow I liked.

Nothing less than phenolic for a bow bolt.  Never tried one. the sleeve is less $$$.

I've read that a bow bolt requires a strong material.  I'm thinking I might just look for a purpose built takedown bow.  Might be the safest route.  I would imagine it's no fun if your takedown system fails.  Ouch!  Thanks fellas...
