Congratulations on the animals. I appreciate your post and your thoughts and experience. It wasn't too long ago that it seemed often times when someone would ask or talk about lower bow weight there would be a lot of responses that were not very positive. Great that you are open minded even though you are able to shoot pretty heavy bows. Always enjoy reading your posts and seeing your pictures.

Sam I think this is a case of it being the Indian, not bow or arrow.
Looking forward to pics.

Sam, thanks for starting the post and doing the "live" tests.  I'm kind of a "seeing is believing" type, and you're showing the proof.

While I'm still a believer in shooting as much as one can accurately handle, I know in my case that has been going down in weight over the years, but not enough to cause me concern as I'm still up in the 50's.  As I mentioned in my other post, my wife has killed whitetails with what I consider very low poundage and light arrows, but none of them have been "big" heavy deer....hers have been yearling bucks/does.  I'm after bucks that are of considerably more size than that.  I have a beautiful Big River longbow that is around 48# at my 30" draw, but it's never been in the field after big game.  Your results have me rethinking that!

Soon as I’m back home from work I will be heading out for the last of our deer season. Just made up a new dozen 500 spine arrows and plan on getting to know the bow a little better , hope to get some shots at some hogs also. As I said so far I like the lightweight bow and still wondering a few things also. Will post up anything my little mind figures out along the way...
