I'm in the middle of trying to get my shop rearranged and organized for making bows and other general carpentry work (as needed). I'd like to see how you guys set things up, including workbenches.... I need to get at least one large assembly bench made and maybe would use it as an out feed for the tablesaw.

This is the space I'm working with, and the upstairs is just as big...

Thinking I may put all the woodshop stuff upstairs and have this space as vehicle work and have all the metal fab and welding stuff down here.

So let's see some workbench and shop pics.

Did you see the pic I attached?!?! My dad was worse than I am with cleaning a work area, he never threw anything out and would just as soon by a 2nd or 5th tool instead of try to find the 1st one.

I have a whole grade school parquet gym floor, in 8 barrels, behind the black tool chests on the left... Whatever glue they used to install it, pulled chunks of the concrete up with it when they removed it.... They were going to the dumpster with it, my dad thought that was a waste.

I'll be calling you after January Kenny. Our bow season is done then, and I should have some idea of what I all need by then. I have a 24" drum sander, so I'd like to get some taper sleds.

Also, could I take your original 62/64 pattern and add 1" like you did? Or should I order a new pattern?

Nice shop...  Looks like you have plenty of room... 

   I have a small shop and I do all my dirty work outside which is about 90% of making a bow...  So I like a lot of things on wheels...   Here are some things that may benefit you... A rolling work station with all your small go-to tools on it and put misc. stuff like rags and such on it to keep clutter off the work table...  Make sure you use big sturdy wheels so it is easy to roll around... Once you find a happy place for it you may keep it in one spot...
   A work bench with a perfectly flat surface...  I used a 36" exterior door slab...  They are pretty damn flat...  And I built a frame under it and trued it up with some wedges...  I installed a bow stringing device at the end of the table...  Very handy...

I do have a handful of those old solid wood table tops from a school or something. And I used an old solid door and lower cabinets (back to back) on a wheeled cart for a bench in another shop that has turned into a storage top... Need to clean that up and see if I can utilize it...that one is 3 cabinets and drawers in each side, overhang on one end with some pegboard on each end, and I worked up outlets on each end and a long extension cord to plug it in.

For that bow stringer do you pull up or push down the top limb?

Yep, you can . Just draw the new curve. Then bend something like a pc of glass around curve and where it starts to be sure no bumps or dips...

You'll have to post an updated pic of when your shop is all filled up, Ben.  I have a huge backyard that someday (when the mortgage is paid off!) the wifey said I could build a "man shed".  It's going to be a woodworking/bow building shop, of course, but I really don't know how big to make it.  18' x 24' would be on the larger side of what I have in mind, so it would be nice to see what yours looks like finished.
