Tom, you are right about Bob Thompson being a great craftsman. You clearly are one as well. I had the privilege of doing a bowyer interview article on Bob years ago for TBM entitled "Bob Thompson--the Can Do Bowyer". The title came from a statement he made to me that "if a customer can envision it we can build it". I was at his place a lot as he only lives about 45 minutes from me. He has had his hand in all sorts of projects. He had a beautiful cedar strip canoe that he personally built, he built a cedar strip topper for his pick up, mandolins, guitars, 1/4 scale radio control model airplanes. He at one time built an aerobatic Pitts Special bi-plane and flew it for a time. He was also into custom pool cues when I interviewed him and was making one for a guy who sent him some small gold nuggets he had personally panned in Alaska somewhere and Bob made indentations in the cue and placed the nuggets in the recesses around the cue stick and then filled them with amber that was just beautiful. He not only could build excellent bows but he can shoot them too!
I was so happy to see how Bill continued the fine work Bob had started when he took over the line. That doesn't always happen with a new owner/bowyer. You clearly are continuing that. Great work!
