Ace Hex Heads and it's not even close.  I've tried everything, even DIY...this is my second season with the Hex's.  When they hit the ground, they don't skip, they don't bury, they blow through small game.

just ordered some of these from three rivers, I think they will be great all around small game and stumping. at 75 grains they should be easy to match any weight to tune. should be able to shoot up in trees without sticking in trees to.  :biglaugh:

I very rarely actually shoot stumps, just not very many here in Colorado that aren't rock hard, but out of all the different types I've tried, VPA SGT's are head and shoulders above the others for small game and shooting at soft roving targets.

I bought some of these this year, I do like the way they ride in a bow quiver, they ran into the grass a lot farther than my VPA SGT usually do. Probably will keep carrying them though, especially during elk season simply because of the way they carry in the quiver like normal and I don't have to reverse the arrow putting the nock into the foam!

Stump shooting...Zwicky Judo Points are KING but I will occasionally use a steel blunt or rubber blunt if that's what I have on me and the shot calls for it.

Small game hunting gets a little tricky and the answer varies depending on the game being hunted and particular shot availible...
  • squirrel on the ground gets a broadhead or a Red Feather Archery Talon depending on the shot
  • squirrel in a tree gets an RFA Talon
  • rabbits get an RFA Talon or rubber blundgeon depending on the shot
  • birds (quail, dove, etc) get an RFA Talon
  • small furbearer (coon, fox, etc) get either a broadhead or RFA Talon
  • bullfrogs get a Zwickey Judo or Condor or rubber blunt depending on the shot
  • pests that I'm asked to exterminate usually get a broadhead

If I had to pick one head to do it all for small game I would likely choose my RFA Talons but the reality is while they are by far my favorite steel blunts, there are times that a steel blunt really isn't the best tool for the job.

For stumping, these are.  I think they are 165 grains, and I have alot of setups that use 175 grain heads, so a better match than judos, and even less likely to get buries.  Did kill an armadillo with a head shot, but better choices for small game

Judos. I haven't found a way to lose one yet, and they leave a hole like a broadhead through rabbits and squirrels.

Plain old field points for stumping and roving.  The same thing with a small hole drilled through and a matching size finishing nail inserted through for small game.

Nothing seems to work on rocks though. :o

For rabbits and squirrels I like to shoot Rage. I find the lack of penetration doesn't damage any meat. And if you loose them who cares they weren't worth a crap to begin with.  :archer2:
