hex head fan here too, except they break my cedar and douglas fir shafts a lot at the back of the point when hitting hard stuff. Haven't broke a carbon arrow with them yet. But find myself going back to judo's more than hex heads on my wood arrows these days. Still, on small game and killing effectiveness I think the hex head is a better mouse trap over a judo and doesn't snag on stuff in flight like a judo can when you don't want it too.

Agree with Terry broadheads are a more lethal choice on small game over most of the small game heads available, but I won't shoot broadheads up in the trees and of course not for practice shots and stumping either. I always have at least one arrow with either a hex head or judo on it in the quiver for just that reason.

Those 3R thingy's behind a field point look interesting. I'm about 70/30 on wood arrows when small game hunting, but may have to give those contraptions a try on my carbon arrows...

Just stumping/roving Judo  is my favorite. I like Small game thumpers or Ace Hex when chasing small game. Yes they will stick in trees too. I left a several of em in CO last year chasing those damn grouse.

I like the Ace Hex too, but am glad to see the Talon is back again. Love those small game heads! Hoping they come out with a 175f or 200g one eventually.  Actually hit a rock with one last weekend. Should’ve known that was the bare spot I was shooting at LOL broke the arrow, but the head was fine.

I have used alot of different heads, and there are pros and cons to all of them.  Really not much of a fan of hex or blunt heads for the most part because they bury in soft ground to easily.  The small game thumper heads from vpa archery are pretty nice, and come in different weights.  The heavier versions aren't as likely to bury and are devastating on small game, but  a little more pricey than buying some hex heads.  I really hate losing arrows that got buried, so I rarely use hex heads.  Another option would be to get the glue on judo kondor tip, and add an insert to get to the weight that you want.  They weigh 145 grains as is, I believe.  They have pretty large spring arms, so they are more problematic for fitting into some quivers.  Lots of options out there.  Good luck.

Where did you get your talon heads?

They started making them again. It’s not red feather anymore it’s just talon heads. They’re $20 for 3 now. I don’t know if they’re sponsors so I won’t post a link, but here is a picture of the package. I don’t know if that’s ok either, but we’ll find out.

For stumping I prefer Judos. I h like the hex heads a lot for small game but they slide under leaves too much for me stumping. So I use both depending on what I’m shooting

I have “the hammer blunt” from 3-rivers and they have worked well but still bury underground. I really like “the forge” 75gr adapter for a field point. They don’t bury at all and hold up well. I might have to pick up a pack of those “Talon heads” because the big fox squirrels down here are TOUGH!
