Had pics of a nice bobcat throughout the season and one just a week ago. Was hunting a hidden ¾ acre forage oats field on a ridge top adjacent to the wet bottoms. The forage oats had reached 23”s tall this fall and the deer had mowed it down to approximately 4”s. I had been hunting that afternoon hoping for a goodin to step out this late season and to possibly harvest a doe for Shed Hunter, who was with me in the blind. I noticed movement to my left and immediately backed away from the shooting window. I communicated to Shed Hunter that a yearling was approaching. Shed Hunter had direct line of sight and said it was a bobcat. He was stalking a cardinal which was 15 yards directly in front of the blind. A respectable shot execution was made and the Tree Shark nearly cut him in half. Thought I was going have two check in two bobcats. He didn’t go far.
Have longed for a shot opportunity at a bobcat for over 30 years. Only two shot opportunities have ever presented themselves but were both before the bobcat season started.
There has been abundant gratitude incurred for having been blessed with a gifted unexpected special opportunity.
