KY Deer Season Winding Down
« on: January 20, 2019, 10:28:25 AM »
Tomorrow is the last day of the Kentucky deer season. Have hunted relentlessly. Still striving to get it done. The biggins have maintained the upper hand all season. Hopefully, they have been misguided and believe the season went out yesterday.

Snow on the ground today….perhaps there will be something special on the ground today or tomorrow.

Good luck Friend.  I had to work this weekend but will be closing out the Kentucky season tomorrow as well.

Wishing you both a “BIG Finish”! May you keep your focus to the buzzer & close the deal. I was blessed with a wonderful opportunity with 20 minutes left of our season this year, it can and does happen...

Good Providence

The best of hunting to you...Austin

This evening's hunt yielded three does and a yearling from 8 to 10 yards.

One more day...

Bvas….

Had first ever visual of him on January 17th. Was actually walking into the hidden 3/4 acre forage oats field. The same foodplot that I had just harvested a bobcat days before. The majestic buck was standing at the wood line edge directly facing me from approximately 50 yards. We were in a stand off for approximately five seconds and then he turned made a couple of bounds and was out of sight. The experience should have been most enjoyable however, I tortured myself for several hours thinking that I couldn't have actually seen such an animal.  One characteristic that I had somehow interpreted from the nighttime pics was that his rack was dark. In the broad daylight, it was bone white. Just a sighting is a gift that I am pleased to settle for.

I know the feeling!!  I got to enjoy watching a buck Ive been after for nearly an hour(second sighting).  Was grateful to just share the woods with him and watch his behavior.  But part of me is still disappointed to not close the deal.

Does came in very close twice this afternoon. The biggins successfully alluded me all season.

I enjoyed a most splendid season and hope others did the same.

Next season's extensive prep commences in three weeks. The fire burns ever brighter.

Ain't that the way - get one or no, you can't stop thinking about it.

Great attitude and always - next season.
